SRINAGAR, Dec 8: Day after militants ambushed a convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Director General (DG) CRPF, Prakash Mishra, today paid a special visit to Srinagar and took stock of the situation.
Militants yesterday attacked a CRPF convoy near Green Tunnel in Semthan area of Bijbehara in Anantnag district during which six CRPF men were injured. A CRPF vehicle was also damaged in the firing.
“Prakash Mishra visited headquarter of 90 Battalion of CRPF and took note of damaged vehicle which was fired upon by militants. He also met the injured CRPF personnel of 53 and 179 battalions in 92 Base Hospital at Badami Bagh cantonment where they are undergoing treatment. He appreciated their swift action against the attack,” a CRPF spokesman said here.
He said the DG also announced rewards and DG Discs for such gallant action by CRPF parties.
A special meeting was also convened with Special DG CRPF (J&K Zone) SK Bhagat, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Javid Mujtaba Gillani and IG CRPF (Operations) Nalin Prabhat. “In the meeting the current threat perception and security aspects were reviewed,” the spokesman added.
