New Delhi, Dec 3:  India’s largest commercial organization, Indian Oil has entered into an agreement with StoreKing, the brand of Local Cube Commerce Pvt. Ltd for making available e-commerce shopping facility through its retail outlets in the small towns and villages of Karnataka State.
Store King is an e-commerce website with a catalog of over 1,00,000 products ranging from air-conditioners, washing machines, kitchen appliances to mosquito repellents. The USP is that the user interface is not in English, but available in vernacular languages, viz. Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Konkani to make it more user friendly for residents of tier 3 & 4 cities.
The Agreement was signed in Bangalore by S Varadachari, General Manager In-Charge, Karnataka State Office, and Sridhar Gundaiah, Chief Executive Officer, LocalCube Commerce Pvt. Ltd.
LocalCube Commerce Pvt. Ltd. will offer a Store King franchisee with multi-lingual content and customized application in Tablets to IndianOil dealers. This will enable dealers to sell more than one lakh products through assisted shopping.  The customers will just walk into Indian Oil retail outlets and will be assisted in making the E-Commerce transactions-ranging from electronic to white goods; from clothes to household products to food items to kitchen wares and FMCG products to Insurance policies.  Once the order is confirmed, the customer pays the retailer and receives an SMS (in vernacular) from StoreKing. The product is delivered within 48 hours.
Indian Oil is the India’s first Oil Marketing Company to enter into this novel Non-Fuel Agreement that seeks to tap the huge opportunity that exists in the hinterland for E-commerce.  The agreement opens the door for Indian Oil’s Retail Outlet dealers in small towns and villages to become franchises of Store King and provide a ready E-Commerce shopping access to customers in the semi urban and rural belts.
The company expects to enable this facility in about 250 retail outlets of the State by this year end and shall expand its reach pan-India in a phased manner.
Earlier in May 2015, Indian Oil has partnered with Amazon to enable Indian Oil’s XTRAPOWER customers to redeem their loyalty points for purchasing any item in Amazon website.
