Interlocutors’ report futile exercise: NPP

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug 30: While describing interlocutors’ report as a futile exercise and a damp squib, The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party decided to boycott the interlocutors who are on visit to the State for one week to elicit the public response pursuant to their submission of report to the Home Ministry.
Addressing a party meeting here today, the working chairman of the NPP Harsh Dev Singh said that interlocutors have not only shown disrespect and disregard to the sentiments and aspirations of people from Jammu region but also made some offensive and unsavory remarks which are not in tune with the national mode. He pointed out that interlocutors from very begining created controversies and an atmosphere of suspicion and mistrust by using the word like ‘dispute’ for Kashmir, by entertaining the proposals of Azadi, mooted by certain quarters  and finally describing Pak occupied Kashmir as ‘Pak  Administered Kashmir’.
The NPP leader alleged that interlocutors stood exposed for their proximity and alignment with Kashmir centric parties and with separatist outfits by giving disproportionate coverage to autonomy, revocation of AFSPA, Pre-53 status, demilitarization and making favourable recommendations on the said subjects to the utter neglect of issues of Jammu region. He said the issues of Jammu region needed focused attention in the report. NPP leader said he had made mention of Finance Commission recommendations, equitable devolution of funds, employment opportunities and development projects, economic package for Jammu to fill development gaps, separate recruitment boards, PSC, separate budget, adequate share in tourism, road connectivity, health sector, issues of refugees migrants, funds for Jammu water bodies but these issues have not been given attention.
