LEH, Nov 26: Seeking early justice to rape and murder victim, Afsana, who was found dead on February 9, 2015 after she went missing on November 26, 2014, All Religious Coordination Committee took out a peaceful rally, here from Petrol Pump Chowk to Polo Ground Leh today.
Holding banners and play cards, seeking death penalty to the accused, the rally was taken out from Petrol Pump Chowk to Polo Ground Leh. Members of Brothers Welfare Society Thiksay, Adventure Sports, Culture Society Thiksay and school students took part in the rally.
At Polo Ground, various religious heads, who included Anjuman Moin-Ul Islam president, Sheikh Saif Ud-Din; Ladakh Buddhist Association president, Tsewang Thinles; Anjuman Imamiya president, Ashraf Ali Barcha; Christian Association E S Gergan; LAHDC Executive Councilor for Works, Dorjay Mutup and LBA Youth Wing president Rinchen Namgyal addressed the gathering.
Later they also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Leh. In the memorandum, the tragic tale of innocent school going minor girl from Thiksay was narrated, who was brutally raped and murdered by a non-State employee at Betong House Thiksay.
Pertinent to mention here that minor school going girl Afsana Parveen had gone missing on November 26, 2014 with no clue for more than two month until the body was recovered near her house on February 9, 2015.
Meanwhile, all the establishment including restaurants and shops remained closed for half day today to show resentment against such crimes.
