CHANDIGARH, Nov 23: Over 54.56 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy have arrived in the grain markets of Haryana, of which 42.36 LMT have been purchased by government procurement agencies.
Out of the total arrivals, more than 19.35 LMT of paddy has been purchased by the Food and Supplies Department, 14.94 LMT by Hafed, 4.34 LMT by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation and more than 3.71 LMT of the crop has been purchased by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation.
Karnal district had received the maximum paddy at 11.80 LMT, a spokesman of the State’s Food and Supplies Department said here today.
The spokesman said farmers have been advised to clean and dry their harvest properly before bringing them to the market so that they do not have to face any problems in storage due to high moisture content. (PTI)
