JAMMU, Aug 29: A couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping into Chenab river today and went missing in Reasi district, a police officer said.
Hardev Singh (25) and 17-year-old Kajal jumped into the river at Bara Dari area in Reasi district around 1700 hours, he said.
“They went missing and operation to recover them was launched by police and locals but no body was found till tonight,” he said, adding a case has been registered by the police and investigation started into it.
The duo, who belonged to different castes, were in love with each other but their families were opposed to their affair, he said. (PTI)
