KISHTWAR, Nov 4: An innovative project “Nigraan”–A Geo Tagging Initiative was launched at Panchayat Pochal-B2.
The project was launched by Director Rural Development, ML Raina in presence of DDC Kishtwar GN Balwan.
The project “Nigraan” is conceived by Rural Development Department, Kishtwar under the leadership of ACD Kishtwar Akhter Hussain Qazi with the help of BDO Kishtwar Sunil Bhutyal and PMRDF Kishtwar Arun Sharma.
The project envisages the use of Geo Tagging feature embedded in an android application ‘Geo ODK collect’ for data collection and monitoring. The initiative holds special importance for the district, given the difficult geography and terrain of the region. It will help not only in the better documentation of the records but will also help in monitoring the actual on-ground progress of the work. The application among others enables the submission of GPS coordinates of the work, picture/video of the construction and the details of the beneficiaries.
This project would strengthen the monitoring mechanism of various developmental schemes of Rural Development Department in general and MGNREGA in particular. In addition to this the project would increase the accountability of Government functionaries at all levels.
The project will be launched initially in selected panchayats of the Kishtwar Block and Block Development Officer, Kishtwar, Sunil Bhutyal will monitor and supervise the implementation of the project directly.
