Srinagar, Nov 2: The Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar today rewarded the Kulgam police for their exemplary work in their fight against militancy especially killing top Laskhkar-e-Toiba commander, Abu Qasim.
The DGP paid a special visit to Kulgam today and interacted with the officers and men of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and granted 16 out of turn promotions to police men and 17 SPOs were elevated as constables and followers as per their merit.
Rajendra also gave monetary award to gallant officers and men of Kulgam police who initiated and participated in encounter in which Abu Qasim was killed. DGP praised the efforts of Kulgam police headed by SSP Mumtaz Ahmed, in carrying out successful anti militancy ops and maintaining the law and order situation in the District.
While addressing the officers and men, the DGP laid special emphasis on carrying out anti militancy operations, law and order situation and directed them to create friendly relations with general public and to work hard to come upto their expectations to the level best.
DGP was accompanied by IGP Kashmir SJM Gillani, DIG Nitish Kumar, SSP Awantipora Irshad Hussain, SSP Shopian Altaf Khan, SSP Anantnag Abdul Jabbar. During the meeting SSP Kulgam assured the DGP and other senior officers that Kulgam police will work hard for maintaining peace in the district.
