JAMMU, Oct 30: R K Kalsotra, State president All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations today charged the State Government with failure to protect its own laws as well as the rights of Reservation in promotion to the reserved category employees and announced a grand convention over the issue on November 1 at Jammu.
“Despite repeated requests, no steps were taken to safeguard the rights of Reserved categories and to undo the damage caused by pronouncement of judgement by High Court of J&K dated October 9, 2015,” he said while addressing a press conference here today.
Mr Kalsotra said that after waiting for more than three weeks for taking remedial measures by the Government, the Confederation, social/ religious organizations and political leaders including MLAs/MLCs of different political parties across the party lines are holding a Convention in the ground of Model School Satwari Cantt Jammu on November 1, 2015.
“National Chairman Dr Udit Raj (IRS) MP and other dignitaries will address the gathering. In the afternoon a rally shall be taken out towards the official residence of Chief Minister J&K where a memorandum containing the main demands of Reserve Categories People shall be presented,” he added.
While reiterating his stand on the issue, Mr Kalstora said that the criminal silence of the Government over such an important issue concerning fifty percent population of the State has hurt their sentiments and in case the Government does not take immediate remedial measures to undo the damage immediately, it will have to face the consequences for that.
