SRINAGAR, Oct 28: A police officer and six police men are among over a dozen injured in violent clashes that broke up in Palhallan village of North Kashmir today between protesters and Police.
Amid spontaneous shutdown, violent clashes broke out in Palhallan against what residents allege breaking of window panes of a Masjid by security forces.
Scores of residents mostly youth this morning came out on National Highway and blocked it. They accused security forces of breaking glasses and window panes of a Masjid yesterday. They also alleged that police harassed the locals.
The vehicular movement on Srinagar-Baramulla highway was affected due to protests. However, police used batons and teargas shells to disperse protesters and chased them away.
The youth pelted stones at Police and CRPF leading to violent clashes. At least 7 policemen including Sub-Inspector, Tariq Ahmad, were injured. The clashes continued for several hours during which half a dozen youth were injured.
