JAMMU, Oct 14: Notwithstanding the JU administration resorting to closure of the university functioning today, ABVP activists forced their entry on the campus and held their scheduled programme, through briefly.
After holding a strong protest demonstration outside the campus, the agitating ABVP activists moved towards the University main entrance and forcibly opened the gates, which were kept closed by the JU Security Staff since early morning. Even as Police was deployed there to keep a check on the situation and JU Security staff also tried to give a stiff resistance to the agitators, ABVP activists managed to enter the campus.
Amidst raising of slogans, the ABVP activists assembled near Central Library on the campus and held their scheduled ‘Student Leaders Conference’, which was also addressed by Satinder Awana, president of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), who was chief guest of the event.
Strongly criticizing the JU VC for his alleged anti-student attitude, the DUSU president said that the ABVP would take up this issue before higher authorities for necessary action.
ABVP State organizing secretary Pawan Sharma announced launching of a movement for removal of the VC.
On the other hand, Jammu University is learnt to have taken a serious notice of today events on the campus and hint that action may be taken against the persons responsible for the apparent embarrassment to JU administration in the wake of ABVP activists forcing their entry in the premises.
“We are examining the matter and will take appropriate action as unlawful activities on the campus by anyone can not be allowed at any cost,” said Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, who also reiterated the university stand that only JU students are eligible for holding an event on the campus and not any political outfit or its student wing.
