JAMMU, Sept 30: A man was killed on the spot while two others were injured when a speeding truck hit three motorbikes one after another and lastly collided with a truck at Nandini falling under the jurisdiction of police station Jhajjar Kotli.
According to a police spokesperson, a truck bearing registration number JK03A-6753 which was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu this evening lost control when it reached Tunnel No 3 at Nandini and hit three motor bikes one after another and lastly hit another truck bearing registration number HR55F-8711.
He said in the mishap, the rider of 1st bike bearing registration number JK02AW-4267, died on the spot while the riders of 2nd and 3rd bikes bearing registration numbers JK02AK-7832 and JK02AE-3973, respectively received injuries.
The body of the deceased, who has been identified as Sandeep Kumar son of Gopal Dass, a resident of Channi Himmat, Jammu was shifted to mortuary room of Government Hospital Dansal while the injured identified as Narinder Singh son of Krishan Chand, a resident of Colonel Colony, Satwari and Farooq Ahmed son of Mohd Yousuf, a resident of Mahore, Reasi, were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment.
A case FIR No 111/2015 under Sections 279/337/304A RPC has been registered in this connection against the accused truck driver, who fled from the spot after committing the crime.
Meanwhile, a 15-year old boy was seriously injured when the bike he was going on rammed into a tree at Janglote area in Kathua district. The injured was immediately rushed to GMCH Jammu, where his condition was stated to be serious.
The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter.
