SRINAGAR: Only one Kashmiri crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) while 20 new guests of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here today to meet their relatives, separated in 1947 due to partition.
As many as 38 returnees also crossed sides at the Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC at Uri sector in north of Kashmir, official sources told UNI this afternoon.
They said a Kashmiri resident crossed to other side of the LoC after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot. However, 32 POK residents, including 14 women and a child, who had arrived here in previous Karvan-e-Ama bus returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir.
They said 20 residents of POK, including six women and a child, arrived here to meet their relatives while six Kashmiris, including two women, who had crossed over to the other side of LoC, also returned to their homes.
The bus service, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of POK, since April 7,2005 despite opposition by militant groups, has helped thousands of divided families to meet each other. However, service remained confined to divided families only. (AGENCIES)
