18 soldiers injured in blast

SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Eighteen soldiers were injured in an accidental blast at an Army Training School in Khrew area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this morning.
The blast occurred at 8.45 this morning when the soldiers were busy in their training at Army’s Core Battle School (CBS). During artillery training, a shell went off accidentally with a big bang resulting in injuries to 18 soldiers.
The injured soldiers were immediately evacuated and air-lifted to 92-Base Hospital at the headquarters of Chinar Corps in Srinagar’s Badami Bagh Cantonment. Immediately after the incident, senior Army officers rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
The condition of all the injured soldiers is stable. The exact cause of the blast would come to forth only after the injured jawans speak up.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, Col NN Joshi said in a statement that 18 soldiers were injured in an “unfortunate accidental blast” at Khrew training school.
“They are under treatment at Army Base Hospital. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate into the cause of the accident,” he added.
