JAMMU, Aug 27: MLA Chhamb, Dr. K.L.Bhagat presided over an awareness camp organized by Horticulture Department at Khour today.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bhagat stressed on the Horticulture Department to mobilize their resources for integrated development of horticulture in the Block which has vast potential for horticulture development.
The Director Horticulture informed that both the nurseries have been taken up under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture 2015-16. He advised the farmers to establish Vermi Compost Units in order to get their produce organically certified.
Director said that soil testing lab is functioning at Jammu for analyzing all the macro nutrients and the facilities will be extended to all the horticulture potential areas and steps will be initiated for issuance of soil health card.
The Director Rural Self Employment Training Institute also addressed the participants and spoke about the various farmer oriented schemes being implemented by them.
An interactive session with orchardists was also conducted by Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu along with Subject Matter Specialists during the camp which was followed by vote of thanks presented by Dr.Amit Saraf HDO, Khour.
