JAMMU, Aug 8: With the number of Amarnath pilgrims receding day by day, 2351 yatris paid obeisance in holy cave of Shri Amarnath Ji in South Kashmir’s district of Anantnag on the 38th day of pilgrimage today.
With this the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance in the holy cave since the first batch of Amarnath pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas on July 1 has touched 3,38, 406, an official spokesman said.
He said 694 pilgrims left from Baltal Base Camp for holy cave early this morning by foot while 334 left by chopper. Besides, 492 pilgrims left from Nunwan-Pahalgam base camp via traditional Chandanwari track for holy cave this morning.
The spokesman said 321 pilgrims returned to Baltal by chopper after performing darshan at holy cave today.
He said the weather on Baltal track was partially cloudy while it was pleasant in Nunwan and Chandanwari areas.
He said the pilgrims having night stay at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni also left for holy caver early in the morning.
Meanwhile, the yatra from Jammu to holy cave remained suspended due to closure of Jammu -Srinagar National Highway after landslides at Samroli near Udhampur, the spokesman added.
