JAMMU, Aug 5: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to the State Finance Minister to allocate special funds to the Jammu provincial heads of PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, PDD, PHE and others departments of the State Government to clear all pending dues of daily rated workers before ensuing festivals as these daily rated workers were presently doing remarkable jobs in maintaining essential services in these departments.
Addressing a meeting of NMC activists here, Shastri said that these workers had not been getting their monthly wages on regular basis for many years and their working condition was dismal. Shastri urged Hasseb Drabu to ensure, the release of all pending dues of casual labourers working in PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, PHE, PDD and other Departments of the State Government so that working class could heave a sigh of relief.
In view of forth coming festivals, the Government should also fulfill the commitment made to sixty one thousand daily rated workers to absorb them on permanent basis, he added.
NMC Chief hoped and enjoined upon the Government to release all pending dues before the onset of festival season to mitigate their suffering on account of their living hand to mouth existence.
Among others who also spoke on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, B S Jamwal, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Girdhari Lal, Surrinder Kumar, Jai Paul Sharma, Vijay Kumar and Dalip Bhagat.
