SRINAGAR: The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today produced a challan against 14 officers and Jammu and Kashmir Bank limited for embezzlement of more than Rs 22 crore from the accounts of Collector Land Acquisition, Pulwama.
A Vigilance spokesman said the amount was meant for compensation to the land owners for four lanning of Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
Giving details, he said an FIR was registered under different sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and RPC in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir on November 8, 2010 after the J&K Government directed the investigation in the case to be taken up by the agency.
The investigation was conducted by a SIT, headed by the Vigilance Superintendent of Police which was concluded as proved against 75 accused including the then Collector Land Acquisition. Accordingly a supplementry Challan was produced before the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Pulwama presided by Haq Nawaz Zargar, he said. (AGENCIES)
