JAMMU, June 24: The KP Sabha Jammu has appealed the Chief Minister, the DyCM and the Relief and Rehabilitation Minister to immediately intervene in the matter regarding the harassment being meted out to the PM Package employees staying in Sheikhpora Budgam.
The Sabha president K K Khosa said that the matter warrants immediate action and fixation of responsibility on the administration which has created this piquant situation. The KP employees who are serving in the Valley braving against all odds need to be taken care of in an extraordinary manner and be provided all kind of facilities including fool proof security so that they can develop confidence and a sense of security if they have to continue to serve in the Valley.
He said on the one hand draconian conditions have been attached to their employment and on the other hand unscrupulous elements in the State administration try to disturb the peaceful atmosphere from time to time on a regular basis for reasons best known to them alone. Already the employees are facing issues over their accommodation since they are living in cramped conditions and now this salvo fired against them hits the morale of the entire community. Unjustified and irrational postings of female employees will not be tolerated under any circumstances, he added.
Khosa said at a time when both the Central and the State Governments are mulling a return policy for the community such condemnable behaviour on the part of the administration will result in total negation of this initiative and further vitiate the atmosphere obtaining in the valley and give a fillip to the already prevailing feeling of mistrust with which the KP community is rightly seized. A timely intervention including a personal visit by the CM, DyCM and the Relief and Rehabilitation Minister would go a long way in assuaging the feelings of the employees and would send a signal to the administration to take utmost care and caution in dealing with them.
He said the KP community living in Jammu feels extremely concerned about the welfare of these boys and girls and any laxity by the Govt. in this regard will not go down well with it and can lead to repercussions which will be difficult to control. This episode may also have a direct bearing on the next lot of employees who are on the verge of joining their duties in the Valley shortly, he added.
