JAMMU, June 12: Demanding release of their salary, Female Multi-Purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) of the Family Welfare Department held a protest demonstration cum dharna here today and also took out a protest rally.
The protest dharna was organized under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Female Multi-Purpose Health Workers Welfare Association and the protesting FMPHWs raised slogans in support of their demand.
These FMPHWs, posted in various Sub-Centres of Jammu Division under 2211 Family Welfare, are without salary for the last 16-18 months.
After sitting on dharna at the Directorate of Health Services Complex, under the leadership of Babli Sharma, president FMPHWs Association and Sushil Sudan, president of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, the protesters took out a march from HDS office to City Chowk which passed through MLA Hostel, Indira Chowk and Hari Market.
While addressing the protesting FMPHWs, Babli Sharma and Sushil Sudan threatened to launch an indefinite strike if the salaries are not released within a week.
They alleged that despite repeated assurances by the Government, including Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh, the employees were without salary for the last 16-18 months.
The Association members unanimously decided to hold similar protest dharna on June 19 if the salary of FMPHWs is not released by then.
Others who addressed the protesting FMPHWs, included Mahima Devi, Nancy Bhan, Urmil, Neelam Kumari, Mala Devi, Mamta Devi, Rekha Rani, Sarso Devi, Nirmal Kour and Kanta Devi.
