JAMMU, June 11: Various Sikh organizations have expressed their serious concern over registration of FIRs against the community youth and alleged that an attempt was being made to create confusion and tension in Jammu.
Addressing a joint press conference, with the representatives of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), DGPC Jammu, Sikh intellectuals Circle J&K, Sikh Students Federation and Sikh Welfare Front, chairman of J&K State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, S T S Wazir alleged that certain elements were arbitrarily provoking the minority community.
“When the entire matter was sorted out between administration and our community, then such provocative steps can further increase the misunderstanding and may help the disgruntled elements to create confusion and unrest for disturbing the communal harmony in Jammu,” he said.
Mr Wazir said that the community was unable to understand that what promoted DIG Jammu to constitute a SIT just on the eve of tenth day of S Jasjit Singh when entire Sikh community was under deep sorrow and condolence. “Moreover we are surprised that why State administration which has committed for judicial inquiry is now asking the Div Com Jammu for the same which is against the justice and Law,” he added.
Mr Wazir said that on the one hand, an innocent Sikh youth was killed and many others were injured while on the other hand, the community in Jammu was being harassed and suppressed by such unwanted steps. “We appeal to entire Sikh community in J&K to be vigilant and remain united to thwart such conspiracies against us,” he said.
Sikh leaders maintained that they were committed for peace and communal harmony but continued injustice with the community in every sphere and particularly no probe for 1984 1989 anti-Sikh riots in Jammu, and carnage of Chhitisinghpora, have badly shaken the faith of Sikhs in justice delivery system.
