JAMMU, June 3: A meeting of the Executive Committee of All J&K Senior Citizens Welfare Council was held here, today under the chairpersonship of Mrs Raj Sharma its president .
Mrs Sharma expressed her grave concern and resentment over the anarchy and chaos prevailing during the Jammu Katra via Udhampur to and fro daily railway journey by DMU train being run by Northern Railway.
The meeting alleged that the Railway authorities have all together neglected the convenience of senior citizens and ladies either for reservation or for sitting arrangements against the practice and pattern of the railways in other parts of India.
Further the Executive body expressed its utter displeasure over the fact that the train in question has practically no utility available for daily travelers particularly for female employees who have to use the facilities on regular basis.
It said further lack of presence of law enforcing agencies makes the matter worst and adds to the problems of senior citizens, females, patients and differently able persons.
The Senior Citizens Welfare Council has called upon the Railway Ministry to enforce reservation for senior citizens, women, physically challenged persons and daily office goers in Jammu -Katra DMU and ensure presence of law enforcing agencies for instant redressal of grievances.
