JAMMU, May 27: Congress today launched its membership drive in Marh Assembly constituency with leaders asking cadre to go on a vigorous campaign to strengthen and expand secular and progressive space in the State.
Asking workers to enroll members who are committed to the ideology and principles of the Congress Party, the PCC general secretary and Ex-MLA Balwan Singh asked them to lay special emphasis on youth, women, minorities and other down-trodden sections of the society.
“We urge Congress cadre in the State to go on a vigorous membership drive of the party in order to strengthen and expand the secular, progressive and democratic space in the three regions of the State,” Balwan Singh said.
He said Congress is the only unifying force in the country and it has always taken care of the interests and aspirations of different sections. He urged senior functionaries, legislators, district presidents, besides block functionaries and representatives of Mahila, Youth, Seva Dal, INTUC and NSUI to enroll new members while laying special emphasis on youth, women, minorities and other downtrodden sections of society.
He said this is the only way to defeat the designs of communal, divisive and opportunist forces in the State.
