SAMBA, May 27: Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Kathua-Samba organised an awareness programme in the premises of Cadilla Pharmaceuticals Samba to disseminate the information about the ESI Schemes and latest changes brought therein, among the employers and employees in the area.
The programme was conducted by the Branch Manager, Ramesh Lal and it was assisted by Manjit Singh, Social Security Officer. Around 40 employers and employees and their representatives and other stakeholders from Samba area attended the programme from various industrial units. Dr Navin Kiran, ESI Medical Practitioner, Samba and representatives from tie-up Hospital Kristu Jyoti also attended. Brig (Retd) Kamal Singh Chauhan, GM (HR & Admin) presided over the function.
Deputy Director Sindo Ram touched upon the provisions related to prompt registration of employees and payment of contribution in order to seamlessly ensure benefits for the covered employees and gave an overview of various medical benefits and cash compensations available in the ESI Scheme. He also apprised the audience about certain changes made in the scheme.
Participants raised the issue of huge deductions from Medical reimbursements claims of the employees against the interest of the ESI beneficiaries. They said that deductions from the Medical treatment bills for which employees spent from their funds were unreasonable and should be reviewed. Stakeholders also demanded early completion of ESI dispensary building being constructed in the Industrial Centre, Samba.
Regional Director, ESIC, Jammu Arvind Kumar informed that the issues raised in the seminar would be taken up with appropriate authorities. Regarding medical facilities for employees’ family members in place of domicile, he informed that in case of need such family members can taken treatment on their own and claim reimbursement or they can approach ESIC Model Hospital of the domiciliary State for treatment where they would get medical treatment or cashless referral treatment as may be required, since ‘anywhere anytime’ concept has not yet materialized for all ESI Dispensaries across the country though such concept existed in the computerization project.
Regarding coverage of more employees getting salary higher than monthly ceiling limit of Rs. 15000, he stated that proposals have been sent for keeping the ceiling only for contribution but covering all employees under the Social Security of ESI Scheme.
