JAMMU : Union Minister of Defence Manohar Parrikar today visited the forward areas along the Line of Control and reviewed security in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Defence Minister this morning reached Hamirpur Battalion along the LoC in Rajouri and interacted with the Jawans,” defence sources here told.
They said that the Minister, besides boosting the morale of the soldiers, also lauded them for guarding the LoC and keeping vigil.
Mr Parrikar also held a detailed security review meeting and was briefed by Lt Gen K H Singh, GOC White Knight Corps. The Minister will also pay obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine before arriving here late in the afternoon to fly back to the National Capital.
Mr Parrikar, alongwith Army Chief Dalbir Singh, yesterday began his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He met jawans at Siachen base camp and held meetings with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Governor N N Vohra. (AGENCIES)
