JAMMU, May 16: Senior BJP leader and Convener Tawi Andolan Chander Mohan Sharma urged Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed not to abandon the prestigious project of Artificial Lake at Tawi on flimsy ground.
Addressing a press conference, Sharma said that the people of Jammu province are waiting for fulfillment of their dream project for the past 12 years.
Sharma said that he has no knowledge of technical report or non feasibility of the project and the Government should come out with such report and should also initiate action against those who convinced, planned and executed the project. He asked the Chief Minister to take action against those who are responsible for the loss of huge public exchequer.
Sharma added that shelving of project is outcome of narrow and prejudicial mind set.
He asserted that continuous pressure will have to be built upon the State Government for completion of the project and rejuvenation of Tawi and other water bodies of Jammu province which include Chenab, Ujj, Jhajjer, Devak, Anji, Neeru, Naj, Tawi (Rajouri) and River Poonch as all those rivers have potential in abundance for tourism attraction and hydro electricity generation.
Sharma called upon NGOs, Social Organizations and biradaries to support Tawi Andolan and join its Tawi Parikrama Motor Rally on May 31 starting from MA Stadium.
Among others present were Prof Mishra, Joginder Khajuria, Shuspal Singh, Ankit raina, Rajesh Jaitley, Anil Sharma, Veena bakshi, Usha Salathia, Neelam Mahajan, Balwinder Singh and Zufikar Kassana.
