Girl’s chopped body recovered from septic tank, couple arrested

*SSP constitutes SIT to probe reasons behind murder

JAMMU, May 4: Gandhi Nagar police arrested a couple, who were earlier nabbed in 2010 for running brothel, for killing a 23-year-old girl after chopping her body and dumping it into a septic tank for disposal in a house at Chandan Vihar, Muthi.
SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand while interacting with media persons at Gandhi Nagar police station this evening informed that on March 19, 2015 a woman namely Vaishno Devi, wife of Sher Singh Jaral of Sewna Chenani, district Udhampur approached Police Station Gandhi Nagar with the complaint that her daughter namely Shivani Jaral (23) years, who came to Jammu around 6 years back for FMPHW training is missing since March 12, 2015 from her rented accommodation at Sanjay Nagar. Accordingly a missing report was lodged and alert was sounded, SSP added.
“On May 2, 2015 the mother of victim girl lodged a written complaint with Police Station Gandhi Nagar stating involvement of Sunil Kumar (carpenter), son of Gyanu Kumar of Chinore and his wife Rajni Devi in the kidnapping and illegal confinement of her daughter”, SSP added.
SSP informed that acting on the complaint, a case under FIR number 105/15 under Section 364 RPC was registered and a police party raided the house and arrested the accused husband and wife.
After thorough and in-depth questioning of the accused persons, they disclosed that they killed the girl, chopped her body into pieces and dumped the body in septic tank of their rented accommodation at Chandan Vihar, Muthi, which they have hired despite having another rented accommodation at Chinore in which they are residing presently, Mr Uttam Chand said.
He disclosed that police party immediately rushed to the spot and in the presence of FSL Team and Magistrate recovered the chopped dead body of the girl from septic tank from the house at Chandan Vihar, Muthi.
He added that offence under Section 302 RPC has been inserted in the case and further investigation will reveal the intention and motive behind the brutal murder.
“Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to work out the reasons behind the brutal murder of the girl. SP South Uday Bhaskar Billa will be heading the team”, Mr Uttam Chand stated.
“The accused husband and wife were also arrested by Bakshi Nagar police in 2010 for running brothel at Patoli Mangotrian. At that time, seven persons including 4 ladies were arrested from the brothel and a case under FIR number 175/2010 was registered at police station Bakshi Nagar”, SSP disclosed.
Police team led by SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar Inspector Paramjit Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO City South Sachin Gupta, SP City South, Uday Bhaskar Billa and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
Meanwhile, family members and relatives along with victim’s dead body staged protest outside the office of SSP Udhampur and demanded thorough probe.
After the assurance from senior police officers of thorough investigation into the case, the protestors dispersed.
