JAMMU, Apr 28:  Re-iterating the resolve of the NPP to continue its crusade for restoration of AIIMS to Jammu,  former Minister and senior party leader Harshdev Singh  urged upon the party workers to be prepared for a decisive battle for establishment of AIIMS in Jammu as per the original announcements made in New Delhi by Union Government regarding the location of the said premier Health Institute.
He was addressing a convention of party’s Working Committee and District presidents of various districts convened here Jammu today.
Strongly flaying the total  surrender of BJP on the issue of AIIMS,  Harshdev lambasted Dy CM Dr Nirmal Singh for his statement,  categorically claiming that `AIIMS is meant for Kashmir and that nobody can snatch it from them’.  He said that it was highly distressing to note that it did not take the DyCM, who is heading the committee for implementation of ‘Agenda of Alliance’, even a split second to make the highly ingratiating statement on AIIMS on being questioned by media.  He said that ignoring the announcements made during Union Budget session by two Union Ministers as well as Dr Jitender Singh in Kathua, the BJP Dy Chief Minister emphatically denied the establishment of sanctioned AIIMS for Jammu thereby, displaying his servile posturing in the face of a coalition partner.
Castigating BJP for abandoning  its fundamentals, NPP leader  said that BJP has made itself a laughing stock in Jammu with its leaders not only making dichotomous statements on various issues but also taking one somersault after the other in respect of Jammu based issues. Cautioning the BJP to refrain from its craven contemptible posturing, Harshdev called upon Union Minister  Dr Jitender Singh to assert to restore AIIMS back to Jammu.
Balwant Singh Mankotia, State president said that by robbing Jammu of the most prestigious  AIIMS  project the coalition Government had done the injustice to Jammu region which was not expected in a BJP partnered Government.  He said that BJP which has been giving tall slogans of ending all discrimination against Jammu region had belied all hopes and aspirations of the people of Jammu by relenting on the issue AIIMS as well as new recruitment policy.  He said that the recent Jammu bandh should be an eye opener for the BJP which had been considering itself as indispensable for the people of Jammu.
Yashpal Kundal,  Young Panthers State president also spoke on the occasion besides others.  He appreciated the Governor for having raised certain objections and demanded the roll back of the new recruitment policy.
