GMCH Doctors, paramedical staff without salary for last many months

JAMMU, Apr 24: The doctors and other staff at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu are without salary for last many months, as Government has failed to release funds in favour of GMCH despite completion of all formalities.
According to the sources, Post Graduate doctors have not been paid salary for last three months while Registrars are without salary for last eight months. The newly confirmed PSC doctors and Class IV employees are also without salary for last eight months and six months, respectively.
Besides, the contractual employees including technicians are without salary for three months while the interns also did not get stipend for last two months.
The sources further informed that due to non-release of funds by the Government, GMCH failed to clear various bills worth Rs 8.5 crore of last financial year, which ended on March 31. These bills include repair of various medical equipments, salary of employees, telephone service, laundry, etc.
Though the hospital administration timely deposited all bills in Government treasury, yet the Government failed to sanction funds despite allocating it to GMCH, Jammu.
However, Principal, GMCH, Dr Ghansham Dev Gupta, when contacted, disclosed that 25% of total funds allocated to them have been sanctioned today by the Government and till Monday the pending bills will be cleared and the salaries of doctors and other staff will be paid.
