JAMMU, Apr 21: Danesh Rana, IGP Jammu Zone, held a meeting with all Range DIGs and District SSPs of Jammu Zone at PCR Jammu to review the security scenario/Law & order situation of Jammu Zone.
He stressed upon the entire district SSPs to work hard and pass on the directions to lower level subordinate units for effective and people friendly Policing. While elaborating, it was mentioned that maintenance of Law and order, prevention of crime, speedy investigation/disposal of cases, adequate attention to public grievances on day to day basis, special attention to public importance cases, strengthening of Police public rapport are of utmost importance. IGP Jammu Zone, expressed his concern over the cases of chain snatching in District Jammu and drug peddlers where further efforts were required to be made to check these kinds of Crime. Suicide cases and road accidents are area of special concern where there is need to play a big roll to check loss of human life, he said and directed to improve the beat system in all Police Stations.
The IGP stressed that people friendly attitude be exhibited at all levels and a professional approach be developed in investigating crime of public significance cases. The involvement and close supervision of senior officers, use of scientific methods are required for quality investigation and public satisfaction he said and added general conduct of Police especially subordinate ranks to common people has to be helping/ cordial and not rude and indifferent.
He further stressed that touring by Police officers in their respective areas, meeting people and interacting with them on social and professional matters is of great significance and therefore, Civil Society Committee / friends of Civil Society meets have to be regular and target oriented.
On the border management front, IGP Jammu Zone stressed upon all the District SSPs to lay Joint Nakas on all the infiltration routes. All Border Police Stations/ Police Posts be strengthened. Night Patrolling on National Highway be conducted and a close liaison be maintained with all forces deployed in their area of jurisdictions.
