Students protest against death due to ‘doctors’ negligence’

UDHAMPUR, Apr 17: Following death of a BA Part II student, who was admitted in District Hospital Udhampur following stomach pain, family members and friends of the deceased along with students of Degree College Udhampur, held a protest demonstration against the hospital authorities.
Shouting slogans, the protesters claimed that the student died because of alleged negligence of the doctors, who did not diagnose and treat the patient.
As per the information, Kuldeep Singh, son of Shravan Singh of Gool- Sangaldan, was admitted in District Hospital Udhampur three days back following stomach pain. Family members alleged that the doctors didn’t properly treat him resulting into increase in complications and the subsequent death last night.
Students of Degree College Udhampur boycotted their classes today and held a protest in front of the District Hospital. They claimed that a proper and timely treatment could have saved the precious life. “Doctors are fully responsible for the untimely death of our friend and we demand a stern action against them”, they said.
Dy SP Headquarter Gourav Mahajan reached the spot and pacified the agitating students by announcing that any doctor found guilty would not be spared. “A team will be constituted to look into the matter and justice will be done,” said Dr Chander Parkash, Superint-endent of the District Hospital Udhampur.
