JAMMU, Aug 7 : Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pardeep Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated meal service at the Government Medical College and Hospital Attendant’s Sarai, started by Regional Red Cross Society (RRCS) to facilitate attendants of patients from rural districts , who come to the premier hospitals of GMC and SMGS for advance treatment.
The mess service introduced include Dal-Chawal with Achar at the rate of Rs 10 per plate available both at lunch and Dinner.
After launching the mess service, the Divisional Commissioner also announced a cut for per night stay charges in the Attendant Sarai from Rs 60 to Rs 50.
Principal, Govt. Medical College, Dr Aniece Choudhary, Administrator, Associated Hospitals Reva Gupta, President, BBIA, Annil Suri, President, ACTF, Yash Paul, Gupta, Deputy Director Information Joyti Rani Slathia, Hony. Secretary RRCS Anil K Padha, Assistant Secretary, Zila Sainik Welfare Board Romesh Chander, President Chamber of Commerce Y V Sharma, various NGOs, besides other senior officers of RRCS and Health Department were present on the occasion.
Mr. Gupta called upon the hospital administration to make efforts for getting the hospital veranda vacated from the attendants of patients and create awareness among them to avail the facilities at Sarai. He also stressed upon the concerned authorities to maintain proper sanitation in Sarai and prepare the meals in hygienic conditions.
Anil K. Padha, Hony Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu informed the Management Committee that at present 15 to 20 attendants are staying in the sarai and now a proper kitchen has been put into place with a small dining room where ten attendants can take meal at a time.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner gave away wheel chairs to physically challenged person and a sewing machine to BPL beneficiary benefiting five persons.
