JAMMU, Aug 7: With the arrest of 3 thieves and recovery of 19 gold items and 23 mobile towers batteries, Akhnoor police claimed to have solved several theft cases in the area.
A senior police official said that the police party Akhnoor led by SHO Mahesh Sharma and assisted by SI Bhupinder Singh from Police Post Jourian, under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor, Mazhar Hussain Shah, arrested three persons during raids and after their sustained interrogation recovered gold ornaments worth over Rs 4 lakh and batteries of mobile phone towers worth Rs 1.30 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Ghar Singh, son of Babu Ram, resident of Nikkian (Khour), Romi Pawar, son of Kirpal Singh, resident of Gandharwan and Narinder Kumar alias Bawa, son of Mohinder Dass, resident of Deharan.
On their discloser, the stolen items were also recovered by police. They were wanted by Akhnoor and Jourian police in connection with several theft cases. They had burgled three houses besides stealing batteries of several mobile towers in the area.
A special police team was constituted by ASP Rural, Jammu Rajesh Sharma on the direction of SSP Jammu Parbhat Singh to work out these theft cases. The SSP lauded the efforts of the police team. The items were also handed over to the owners in presence of SSP at Akhnoor today.
