JAMMU, Apr 5: Continuing its campaign of organizing monthly rallies on every first Sunday of the month to discuss the latest development with regard to PoK Displaced Persons, SOS International today organized a rally at Rehari Colony in Jammu.
While addressing the gathering, SOS International chairman, Rajiv Chuni said that more than 6 months have been over since the package was sent to Union Government for its approval but the cold response of Modi Government over the package has demonstrated non-seriousness of Centre.
Referring about the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s announcement that a committee headed by Deputy CM Dr Nirmal Singh would look into the matter of PoK DPs demands, Mr Chuni said that forming committee seems perverse because intention behind the same is questionable as everything is crystal clear to Government. “What is the need of committee? It is going to be formed to only delay the package and now PoK DPs won’t let it happen,” he said and demanded that the Government without any delay should pass the package so that PoK DPs can acquire some relief.
The SOS International chairman also demanded that the Government should restore at least 8 Assembly seats out of 24 seats reserved for PoK territory in the State Assembly. “Out of 8 nominated seats in Legislative Council, 2 persons must be nominated for PoK DPs so that a sense of belonging must be created among the community,” he added.
The rally was also addressed by Virinder Khajuria, Dr Gurmeet Singh, Lalit Kumar, Roshan Lal, Sanjay Kohli, Sharda Devi, Sat Paul Lakha, Roshan Malhotra and Vinay Sharma.
