SRINAGAR, Apr 3: Minister of State for Social Welfare and Health, Asiya Naqash convened a meeting of officers of Social Welfare Department here today to review the functioning of the department.
During the meeting, the Minister took review of various schemes being implemented by the department. She urged the officers to organize awareness camps so that the masses are awared about the various Central and State sponsored welfare schemes. She asked the officers to be proactive in implementing centrally sponsored ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme’ and work for betterment of weaker sections of the society.
The Minister asked the officers to ensure implementation of all Central and State schemes to ameliorate the sufferings of the destitutes, orphans and senior citizens. She said that ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme’ should be implemented throughout the State in letter and spirit to save the girl child. She said that Government alone can’t deliver on this count and the civil society have to come forward and play its role to make our tomorrow better.
The meeting was attended by the Special Secretary Social Welfare, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Secretary Social Welfare Board and other concerned officers.
