SRINAGAR, Apr 2: Highlighting the need for improving education system in the State, Minister for Education, Syed Naeem Akhtar said that authorities associated with education sector must make concerted efforts to improve the system.
Addressing a meeting of officers here today, he said that Education Department is formulating a transfer policy shortly which would go a long way in improving the system in the State. He said that Government is making every effort to strengthen the education infrastructure in the State to provide quality education to the students.
The Minister announced that the historical MP and SP Higher Secondary Schools of Srinagar would be developed as Model Institutions, adding “besides providing improved and quality education infrastructure the schools would be equipped with competent faculty also”. He said a governing body is being constituted to look after the administrative matters of these schools. He said that Government is contemplating to develop other model schools in the old city of Srinagar.
Naeem Akhtar warned the officers of the Education Department that they should be committed to their profession and any laxity and dereliction would be severely dealt with while honesty and dutiful officers would be encouraged. He urged the officers to take advantage of MGNREGA scheme for strengthening education infrastructure in rural areas.
Minister for R&B, Altaf Ahmad Bukhari, who was also present on the occasion, said that quality of education in the Government schools should be improved to the extent so that students would prefer Government schools over private schools.
Meanwhile, Naeem Akhtar flagged off on wheels luxury travel coaches from Centaur Lake View Hotel promoted by a private tourism player.
The luxury travel coaches have been designed with a seating capacity ranging from 10-24 persons with comforts and convenience of an aircraft, coupled with high end and sumptuous amenities.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Kahwa Group Sheikh Mushtaq said that the group is trying to play its role for promotion of tourism besides creating employment avenues for unemployed youth of the State. He said investors can invest in high end transport facility for tourists in a big way which would go a long way give boost to tourist industry in the State.
