JAMMU , Mar 31: The Vigilance Organization today arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector of J&K Police for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.
The ASI, identified as Kulbir Singh, posted at Police Station R S Pura, was demanding an accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant Sarbjeet Singh of R S Pura.
According to the complainant, who runs an NGO, the said ASI was demanding bribe for favouring and not arresting him in a case registered against him at R S Pura.
Acting on the written complaint, a team, headed by Dy.SP V K Bhat, under the supervision of SSP Vigilance Organization, Jammu, laid a successful trap and apprehended the accused ASI red handed while accepting bribe amount of Rs 5000. Under the trap, ASI Kulbir Singh was invited at a Tea stall where the complainant offered him the bribe money. The Vigilance team caught the ASI red handed and arrested him on the spot.
A case FIR number 17/2015 under Section 5(1) (d) read with Section 5(2) J&K PC Act 2006 Bk & Section 161 RPC has been registered in P/S Vigilance Organization, Jammu.
