JAMMU, Mar 22: A function was organised in connection with National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Awareness Week at Gajansoo Marh. Sukhnandan Kumar, Minister of PHE, I&FC chaired the concluding function.
While addressing the gathering Minister stressed the importance of clean water, judicious use of water, the effects of open defection and directed CCDU to generate mass awareness as well as coordinated with all the concerned departments to make Jammu and Kashmir a clean State.
On this occasion a cultural programme including Nukkad Natak and songs expressing the role and importance of water, water resources and stopping open defecation was performed by New Sargam Cultural Club Samba.
Dr. Neeta Singh BMO, Sunil Sharma BDO and Rajinder Kumar Sharma X-En PHE Rural Jammu, P. P. Arora X-En PHE Akhnoor also expressed their views regarding the water borne diseases, Swacch Bharat Mission and National Rural Drinking Water Programme respectively.
Dr Narinder Bhatial Executive Director presented the vote of thanks and stressed on intersectoral convergence for overall development of the community.
Others present on the occasion were Sushil Aima Chief Engineer PHE Jammu, SDM Marh Sunaina Mehta, Superintending Engineer Circle Jammu Sh. Sunil Gupta, Superintending Engineer PHE Rural Circle Jammu Rajiv Malhotra, Masooda Begum CDPO, Sapranchs, Panchs, Officials / officers of PHE I&FC and Staff of CCDU.
