JAMMU, Aug 5: Veteran BJP leader from Udhampur, Om Parkash Kassata passed away here today after cardic arrest. He was 76.
Kassata who belonged to Chenani block of Sudhmahadev area had actively joined Praja Parishad movement in 1953 and later he joined Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) and BJP.
He was active member of the Party till his last breath. Kassata devoted his entire life to the Party and service of people selflessly. Not only a large number of BJP leaders joined his funeral procession but leaders from other political parties also attended it. The BJP leaders who attended his last rites included Party State president Shamsher Singh Manhas, Chander Parkash Ganga, Pawan Gupta, Pawan Khajuria, Satish Sharma and MLAs Jugal Kishore Sharma, Baldev Raj Sharma and many others.
