Jammu Lok Mela concludes

KATHUA : Two day Jammu Lok Mela organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages concluded here at Lakhri village of tehsil Billawar in District Kathua today.

Gopal Dass Sharma (Sarpanch) was the chief guest and Narayan Dutt Tripathi, senior Social Worker was the guest of honour in the inaugural function.

Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages said that on March 22 Jammu Lok Mela will be organized at Jhiri in which more than 25 folk parties have been invited to participate.

He said that fourth Lok Mela will be held on March 26, 2015 at Ramnagar, District Udhampur and in these four Lok Melas, more than 600 folk artists will be benefitted. Narayan Dutt Tripathi also spoke on the occasion.

Gopal Dass Sharma said that such activities related to folk, art and literature should also be organized in future. He said that such programmes showcase the rich folk traditions and rituals which were the part of our daily life.

On the concluding day, the folk parties which participated included Kumar Shakti and Party, Rajesh Kohli and Party,Vishwa Nath Ratta and Party, Desh Raj and Party, Vidya Devi and Party,Ramesh Lal and Party,Shakti Lalotra and Party,Priya Devi and Party, Yash Pal and Party, Kasturi Lal and Party, Hukam Chand and Party and the parties which participated in yesterday’s programme were Khajur Singh and Party, Dilsher Singh and party, Bansi Lal and Party, Ram Ditta and Party, CD Mangotra and Party, Simmi Thakur and Party, Shaloo Ram and Party, Vidhya Devi and Party, Om Parkash Punjabi and Party and CS Katal and Party.
