JAMMU, Aug 2: A live shell, mostly used by armed forces, was recovered from a field near a nallah in Smailpur area today.
A villager noticed the metallic shell and informed police about the matter. A Bari Brahmana police party reached there and took the shell into custody. The Army personnel also reached there after receiving information. It was removed and later defused. A possible tragedy was averted. The shell is said to be used during Indo- Pak war and landed in the field without being exploded.
