Srinagar Feb 14: Five alleged rape victims today protested against prosecution failure leading to the acquittal of fake faith healer, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Five girls in veil appeared in Press Enclave today and said they are rape victims and expressed anguish over the release of Gulzar Ahmad Bhat alias Gulzar Peer.
One of the girls said that they want justice saying Gulzar Bhat committed excesses with them.
Gulzar Ahmed Bhat, son Ghulam Qadir Bhat of Khan Sahib Budgam, was acquitted by the Principal and District Sessions judge Budgam. The Court stated that, “considering the oral as well as other evidence brought on record, it can be safely concluded that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove the guilt of the accused.”
“Gulzar Peer raped us. It has been confirmed medically and we also deposed before Court,” she said, adding: “We want to appeal before High Court.”
Another girl said that the medical examination is the biggest proof against Gulzar. “What more we can provide them? And, not only one but five girls are crying rape before Court. We have been deprived of justice.” she said.
