POONCH, Feb 14: A 13-year-old boy duped a lady teacher of Rs 2.04 lakh after he cleverly exchanged an ATM card during operation in Poonch city.
The accused is now in police net and had been lodged in Bal Ashram, Poonch after arrest by SHO Poonch Rakesh Akram. He has been identified as Waseeq, son of Mohd Maqsood, resident of Bainch village and at present residing in Dungus Mohalla in Poonch. The boy noticed a woman, Shabeen Aktar, wife of Farooq Shah of Poonch city, finding difficulty in withdrawing cash from J&K Bank’s ATM near main chowk in Poonch few days back.
The clever boy offered help to the woman and playing trick exchanged her ATM card. The body later managed to withdraw Rs 2.04 lakhs from her account in next two- three days. After she tried this card again suspected foul play and moved to the J&K bank where she found that her Rs 2.04 lakh had been withdrawn. She narrated the matter to her husband and then they lodged an FIR No. 28/2015 with the Poonch police.
The police party today managed to arrest the boy with the help of inputs provided by woman and CCTV footage. The police recovered Rs 1.90 lakh cash from the boy and two more ATM cards. He had recently purchased a scooty and a costly mobile phone. After arrest he was sent to Bal Ashram. Further investigation was in progress.
