JAMMU, Feb 14: Citizens’ Forum Jammu has demanded that under-construction flyover, presently proposed between Bikram Chowk and Convent School, should be extended up to Satwari Chowk.
In a press statement, issued here today, the Citizens’ Forum stated that the people of Jammu needed a flyover from Bikram Chowk to Satwari to ease the traffic congestion. “The flyover that begins at Bikram Chowk and ends at Convent School does not serve any purpose at all,” it added.
“Also, before starting the project, ERA did not work for closure of the main road which now they are asking and disclosing to the people of Jammu. They have to close the road from Bikram Chowk to Satwari in order to create a landing at Convent School. The road will be closed for many months. People will suffer at the cost of inefficiency and lack of technical ability of the ERA engineers, ” the Forum further said and reiterated the demand that this project should be stopped here so far landing of flyover is concerned and extension of the flyover to Satwari be taken up by the new Government.
