JAMMU, Feb 13: Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), Regional Branch today organized 2nd Shri Ram Sahai memorial lecture on “Make in India: Industries Perspective” in memory of Late Shri Ram Sahai, one of the founding members of the Regional Branch.
Alok B Shriram, president, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi, delivered the key note address and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, (IAS) Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Government of J&K, was the chief guest of the function. The function was held under the guidance of Dr Ashok Bhan, Patron IIPA, J&K Regional Branch.
Alok B Shriram in his key note address said that the prospects of the Indian industry are bright however India is still ranking very low in the ‘Ease of doing business’. He further pointed out that although India is the third largest economy of the world in terms of purchasing power parity, the inadequacies of infrastructure poses a problem in conducting business and improvement of the system will require concerted efforts.
Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, in his address pointed out that the ‘Make in India’ concept is likely to lead to a quantum jump in India’s exports and the tiger economies of South-East Asia will emerge as the new hub for manufacturing of goods and take them to the rest of the world.
Speaking on the occasion, BR Sharma, chairman IIPA, J&K Regional Branch reiterated that the concept of ‘Made in India’ can be successful only when we change our outlook towards things and change our mindset.
Earlier, Vikrant Kuthiala paid rich tribute to late Shri Ram Sahai and while recalling his contribution to the IIPA, Chamber of Commerce and Industries and many other organizations pointed out various aspects of his life as an industrialist who worked for the development of the industry in the state.
Rahul Sahai, chairman, Sahai Group of Companies, while speaking on the occasion said that it gives him immense pleasure to greet the venerable gathering on yet another year – the 2nd memorial gathering of Ram Sahai.
“It is time to remember this man’s greatness, humility and also his astute business acumen”, he said, adding this memorial lecture on “Make in India: industry perspective” has enlightened us on how the business opportunities will grow and job opportunities will be created for the common man and benefit the growth of State and Country.
