Udhampur Police solves 5 theft cases

UDHAMPUR, Jan 17: With the arrest of eight thieves, Udhampur police today claimed to have solved five burglaries in the town, including one in a famous mosque here. Police also arrested two persons in different attempt to murder cases that took place in the last one week.
According to SSP Udhampur, Suleman Choudhary, Police has arrested three minors among 8 persons, who had committed five thefts in various shops, houses and also in a mosque at Adarsh Colony area of the town.
“As religious sentiments are involved in case of mosque theft, Special Investigating Team (SIT) was constituted, headed by DySP HQ Gourav Mahajan and SHO Udhampur Mahesh Sharma thereby leading to recovery of various articles, thousands of rupees cash and one LG mobile and other items”, the SSP said while addressing a press conference, here today.
The arrested accused were identified as Khurshid Ahmed, son of Abdul Karim resident of Bai, tehsil Chenani; Mukesh Kumar, son of Om Parkash of Kaldi Udhampur; Nazir son of Mohd Shafi of Mansar; Babu Ram son of Hans Raj of Bharat Nagar Udhampur, Raman Kumar son of Vijay Kumar of Omalla Udhampur; Ajay Singh alias Nanu son of Raj Singh resident of Omalla Udhampur, Ganesh Kumar alias Ganeshu son of Babu Ram of Dandyal Udhampur and Mukesh Singh, son of Pritam Singh of Omalla Udhampur.
Police has taken further remand of all these accused in different cases and investigation may lead to solving of more theft cases, said the SSP, who was accompanied by DySP Gourav Mahajan and SHO Mahesh Sharma.
Meanwhile, Udhampur police has arrested the main accused in two different stabbing cases, which took place here last week. The arrested accused have been identified as Rakesh Kumar alias Sonu, son of Garu Ram of Rount Udhampur and Sanjay Kumar alias Sanju son of Tara Chand of Pakhlai Udhampur.
