Former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi joins BJP

NEW DELHI : Former Aam Aadmi Party leader Shazia Ilmi today joined the BJP, a day after social activist Kiran Bedi became the part of the saffron party.
Ms Ilmi joined the BJP in presence of national vice-president and Delhi affairs in-charge Prabhat Jha and city unit president Satish Upadhyay.
Earlier in the day, Ms Ilmi met party national president Amit Shah at his residence here.
Ms Ilmi was a close aide of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and had contested 2013 Assembly polls from RK Puram. She was defeated by the BJP candidate by a narrow margin of about 300 votes.
