JAMMU:
In the backdrop of some of Congress leaders demanding resignation of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Saif-ud-Din Soz, former Union Minister and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked the members to maintain discipline and work in unity.
Asserting that the Congress Party is seriously looking into the causes of not-so-good performance in the recently held Assembly elections, Mr Azad urged the Party leaders and cadres to work unitedly and steadfastly for reviving and strengthening the Party.
“It is only uncharitable and irrelevant but also uncalled for and unwarranted in the obtained political situation,” Mr Azad said in a statement issued here.
He said difference of opinion is integral to any democratic political party and that the Congress Party has always encouraged dialogue and discussion, however, it is of prime importance to maintain discipline and unity at all costs.
Underlining the need to maintain discipline, Mr Azad said howsoever, serious and cogent the argument may be, it is not at all desirable to come in the open against the PCC leadership as there are avenues and fora available to all the leaders and cadres to express their views and opinion. He also called upon the Party leaders not to speak out of the way on sensitive political issues as this causes more damage and harm to the interest of the Party rather than serving any purpose.
“Airing the views publicly against the PCC leadership is not going to serve the goal of reviving the fortunes of the Party”, he asserted. (AGENCIES)
