SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minster Omar Abdullah today thanked Prime Minister Narendera Modi for lauding the state cricket team for defeating Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy match recently.
Mr Abdullah tweeted “Very nice of PMji to acknowledge the achievement of the J&K cricket team in his radio address today. Mr Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat programme’ on All India Radio today lauded the sportsman spirit and courage of Jammu and Kashmir cricket team.
He said the team had overcome the hardships in the aftermath of floods back home in their state, when all playing fields were submerged, and won their match in Mumbai recently. Mr Modi said ‘the team had gone to Mumbai, in difficult circumstances as their state was passing through crisis, but the players did overcome their hardships, played resolutely with fine team spirit and won the match against Mumbai team. “I do not see it as an affair involving victory of one and the defeat for the other team but want to laud the courage and the spirits demonstrated by the winning team,” he added. He said the lesson that needed to be drawn is that it is important not to lose courage and heart in difficult circumstances.
