BANGALORE : The launch of GSAT-16 by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) slated for launch from French Guiana today has been postponed due to inclement weather.
ISRO said in its Facebook post that the launch earlier fixed for 0208 hrs IST had been put off. The launch of Ariane 5 heavy lift launcher built by the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company N.V. (EADS), was put off due to inclement weather at the launch base in Kourou, French Guiana.
‘The launch of GSAT-16 satellite on board Ariane 5 VA221 is postponed. Further information will be posted,’ ISRO said today.
When launched, GSAT-16 will put into space 48 transponders, the largest number of transponders ever carried to space by an Indian satellite. GSAT-16, weighing 3,181.6 kg will carry transponders in the C-band and KU-band. (AGENCIES)
